Hoya compacta (Hindu Rope Plant)
The Hoya compacta, commonly known as the Hindu Rope Plant, is a unique trailing houseplant loved for its tightly curled, waxy foliage that grows in thick, twisting vines. Each stem looks like a living rope, making it one of the most distinctive and decorative Hoyas available.
When mature and given the right conditions, this plant may produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers that add even more charm to its already unusual appearance. Its slow-growing, cascading habit makes it perfect for hanging planters or elevated shelves where its sculptural vines can drape freely.
Plant Care:
- Light: Bright, indirect light; can tolerate some gentle morning sun
- Water: Allow soil to dry out between waterings; prefers to stay on the drier side
- Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity but is adaptable to average indoor conditions
- Temperature: Thrives between 65–80°F; protect from cold drafts
- Bonus: May produce fragrant, star-shaped blooms under ideal conditions
- Pet Friendly: Yes (generally considered non-toxic, though ingestion is not recommended)
